Fiona Fanning, National Secretary, SCEME Fiona Fanning, BEng, has had over 10 years’ experience working with and for the government. Her career started working at the Building Research Establishment, BRE, carrying out research for various parts of the Building Regulations, including Parts G, H and L. Her work also included the ground breaking project on water efficient housing for Essex and Suffolk Water.
Subsequently she worked at the Department for Education in the School Design Unit project managing a number of projects including the development of BREEAM for Schools. She also worked on a pan-European project on the retrofitting of educational buildings.
For four years, Fiona was on a career break to look after her young children. In this time she has assisted SCEME with administrative tasks, IT and helping to run their joint Study Day with SCALA.
Fiona is now the manager of SCALA - the Society of Chief Architects in Local Authorities.
